Gizelle is a born musician.  In her formative years she was a composer in theatrical productions, a trumpet player in several big bands and a singing tutor all while earning an MA in film composition.

Her American father Joe was the guitarist for legendary Motown group ‘The Four Tops’.

Gizelle’s first 7” release was picked up and remixed by Grammy nominee producer Kenny Dope for a release on his Kay Dee imprint. Soon after she came in to mainstream consciousness as the leader of the Hamburg based outfit ‘The Mighty Mocambos’ on their breakthrough collaborative album ‘This Is Gizelle Smith & The Mighty Mocambos’. It proved to be a hit – charting and receiving specialist radio airplay across Europe while moving over 10,000 units of the album and being streamed millions of times on Spotify.

In 2018, we were fortunate enough to start working with her for the second full length LP ‘Ruthless Day’, an exciting record that still retains all of the energy and intrigue of her earlier works but builds out her musical palette to incorporate more psychedelic and jazzy progressions, bold arrangements and adventurous instrumentation.   The album went down a treat – it would tempt Disco legend, Dimitri From Paris to remix the hit single ‘Dust’ and gain support from the likes of BBC 6 Music and Craig Charles. Fast forward to 2021 and Gizelle Smith ventures in to new territory with a string of incredible singles including 'Better Remember' and 'Miss World' as she previews her second album, 'Revealing'.
