For their latest feel-good and funky track, The Allergies hook up with a living legend in the history of hip-hop. Yes, The Pharcyde’s Bootie Brown takes pride of place on their brand-new slab of throwback rap, ‘Stanky Funk’.
Fresh from global pop stardom, recording and touring across the globe with Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz project, the much-loved rapper supplies pungent punchlines on a character-driven performance that will have fans grinning from LA to Bristol.
Extolling the virtues of the cure-all wonder elixir that is ‘Stanky Funk’, Bootie hard sells the fictional product like a cable TV infomercial salesman, hammering home hilarious lyrics and the seemingly reasonable price tag with equal measure.
It’s a match made in hip-hop heaven, with The Allergies channelling classic early 90’s boom bap beat business. Beefing up lo-fi funk loops, neck-snap drums, cuts and rumbling basslines for one of the best to ever do it to get busy over.
The track is taken from their forthcoming album, Tear The Place Up, dropping in May on Jalapeno Records.
‘Stanky Funk’ will also be released as a limited edition 7” single, with the album track ’Never Gonna Let Go’ on the B-side – A crazy up-tempo breaks-heavy banger that sees The Allergies twin monster samba samples with roots reggae vocal rips, for full dance-floor destruction. Not to be missed…
The release also comes with original art from official Lucasfilm illustrator and The Prodigy graphic art collaborator, Jake Detonator.
