JALAPENO RECORDS
TWO DECADES OF FUNK FIRE
SKEEWIFF
UK based production duo Alex Rizzo and Elliot Ireland are better known as Skeewiff – a pairing whose cheeky humour and dancefloor production skills created a unique sound. Essentially an electronic breakbeat act, they include elements of jazz, lounge and big band music into their style. The result is a contemporary, often instrumental music that is much used by Games, Film and TV producers (FIFA, NIKE etc) and consequently many Skeewiff tracks are subliminally familiar to a wide audience. They have also collaborated with 60's library legends like Hammond organist Alan Hawkshaw and remixed many similar acts like Lemon, Ursula 1000 and Amy Winehouse.
At the turn of the millennium Skeewiff had already tasted worldwide success under various musical monikers and their attention turned towards founding their own record label - Jalapeno Records. Primarily as a vehicle to house their new project and to champion like-minded acts producing high quality music they set about getting the house in order and preparing the first few releases. Fast-forward almost twenty years and the label has evolved to be what it is today, a home to a host of talented Funk, Soul, Disco and Electronic artists with a worldwide reputation for quality.
The boys returned to Jalapeno for a special album of updated cover versions of some of their very favourite tunes. 2023 saw a selection of killer covers of tracks like Spanish Flea, Exclusive Blend, Amen Brother and Misirlou and saw the band back on the radio with 6 Music broadcasting a guest mix and receiving heavy support from Craig Charles. The 'Something Like That?' album brought all these singles together on one rather lovely limited edition violet vinyl LP.
