Two years since the release of his 7th studio album ‘Accumulate’, talented multi-instrumentalist auteur Flevans returns with his most musically expressive and personal long player, ‘A Short Distance to Fall’.
A largely instrumental album, though peppered with lush vocal samples throughout, ASDTF is a listening experience, drawing you in and guiding you through an ever changing musical world, taking in snippets of disco, funk, beats, soul and downtempo - delivering them all with a warm, musical, lo-fi aesthetic.
This new release showcases two gems from his forthcoming album:
‘It Takes The Whole Day’ is a slice of looped pop perfection. Warm keys, horns and orchestral flourishes envelop the northern soul-esque vocal until it reaches its crescendo and leaves you wanting to skip straight back to the beginning and do it all again…
But don’t do that because ‘In Shadows’ is the second track here, its crunchy drums perfectly offset against beautiful piano and synth melodies, drawing you in to its soul / funk finale with horn and vocal flourishes.
